When your TV is mounted on the wall, it gives you more space, a better view and it’s out of reach for the little lads in the house. A lot of people out there still shy away from mounting their TV on the wall, simply because they don’t want to tear up their wall with ugly holes and make a mess of the entire building.
But that’s not always the case, in this DIY article, I will share with you an easy and safe way to install your television on the wall using a retractable TV mount.
If your TV didn’t come with a wall mount (most don’t), you’ll have to buy one. You need to consider the size of the television and the level of rotation you want when choosing a TV mount to purchase.
Anyone who have undertaken DIY projects before and have the basic tools can mount a television to the wall following the steps below.
Ensure, you check out the manufacturers instructions in the television manual.

Here Are The Steps To Mount Your TV:
Step 1: Get the right location
The first thing to consider when mounting a TV on the wall is the location. This is very important and requires a lot of considerations, from the viewing angle, sunlight exposure, location of the nearest power outlet, and where you’re going to keep your connected devices. Installing the TV at the appropriate location makes the whole installation tidier and ensures you don’t have cables hanging around.
Step 2: Locate the wall studs using a stud finder.
Regardless of the location you choose, you need studs to anchor the screws. Locate the stud closest to the inside of the corner with your stud finder.
Step 3: Mark and drill your pilot holes
Position the mount up to the wall. Use a level to make sure it’s straight. Then make light marks where to drill the holes on the wall using a marker or pencil.
Next, drill the holes in the marked areas. Don’t worry if it offers resistance, that’s actually a good thing.
Step 4: Attach the mounting bracket to the wall.
Position and hold your TV mount over the holes made earlier and attach the mount with the screws. Don't fully tighten the screws at first. Take your level and double-check that the mount is straight. If there’s need for any adjustment, adjust it before finally tightening up your screws.
Step 5: Attach the mounting plate to the TV
First, detach the TV stand from it, if you haven’t done that already.
Place your TV screen gently on a table or any surface that will not give it a scratch. A surface that’s larger than the TV is most appropriate. Locate the mounting holes on the rear, and attach the mount firmly.
Step 6: Mount your TV to the wall
You’ll probably need a partner for this. This is the final step! You need another pair of hands as this can be a risky task to do alone. Lift the TV carefully—while your partner interlocks the TV mount. Do not let go of the TV, unless you’re 100% sure that every point of connection is firmly locked.
Now swing the TV over into the corner to form a perfect triangle with the two adjoining walls. If it’s properly done, your TV mount should be completely covered by the television screen.
Connect your TV power cord and audio-video devices, and you're done.
Test all the connections and ensure the TV works properly.
It’s Important that you follow the TV manufacturer’s instructions from the beginning to the end of the installation.
Congratulations for the job well done!
